JamesK is doing an Ironbutt on the Chugoku Expressway just south of you, might want to try riding with him a bit. PM him or look for a maroon FJR hauling ass.

I'm at the Nishinomiyanajio PA now will mess around on some local roads for a few hours then find a cheap hotel.
I'm planing won starting a bit before sun up tomorrow heading down the Chugoku to just before Kyushu then turn around and do it again. So if your not an early riser you could catch me on the way back or the way back again :-).
My cell is 080-5380-5368.

Zumo 550 or 660, both waterproof and made to withstand the rigors of being on a bike. Google maps/navigation on a smartphone are a good supplement to the zumo.

Also buy a Mapple bike road atlas. Besides showing you all the roads by route number it also shows which ones are more fun for riding.

I'm in Seto, which is on the north-east of Nagoya, on the border with Gifu. If you folks want to take a run into Gifu some time, I can show you a few good roads. Sunday's are about the only days I can head out, and not all Sundays are possible. If you're up for it, let me know and I'll meet you in Seto, which is a straight road out from Sakae, and I'll take you for a spin. If I can't make it, or if you want to head out on a weekday, Origawa Dam is a good place to head out to and stop of for a coffee and to get your barings. You'll be in an area full of bikers on the weekends.

Here's the Google Maps code: 35.328273,137.306539

A run down the twisties alongside the Yahagi River is also advisable: 35.205093, 137.312450

Dirt Freak is right around the corner from where I live dude. What were you riding and what time did you go? I might have ridden behind you on 155

And if you're into trials riding, you should check out this trials course:

http://myorakuji.toyota-jp.net/html/04.html Google: 35.04258,137.274374

It's in northern Toyota, not too far from Nags, about an hour and thirty minutes. It's a zen temple (Myoraku Temple), but the monk is a trials fanatic. He built the course and opened it for free to all comers, with the request that they consider a small donation at the temple door. A mate brought me up once and the course was teaming with people on all sorts of trials bikes.

If it was about 5 o'clock, I think I rode beside you on 155, just before you arrived at the turnoff to the shop. I was on a white and black CB400SB with a Givi back box and Komine sidebags.

Hey guys! This thread is a bit old, but I thought I'd chime in. Tried to search but not having much luck. I just came to Japan for a summer study abroad program at Nagoya Daigaku. June 15th to Jul 22nd. Looking for locals in the area that may be knowledgeable about renting bikes or have some rides they can recommend.
