Yep, better switch to MX tires for this. can always swap back after the ride

The rest of us are meeting at Hasuda SA at 7AM. Avoiding a 3AM wakeup so we don't fall asleep at 7PM like the first group...

That's what I'm doing. Have already booked two appts at Speedstar, one for today and one for Sunday.

How does a 7am meetup sound for the rest of us at the same SA?

I can't believe we have that smiley. Maybe we can set it to only show up in Tar Pit posts?

Anyway, good news, everybody! I AM IN! Shiny new pink pass in my hands as we speak.

I'm thinking to do the 7am meetup at Hasuda. But the trick will be whether I can get my dirt tires on the GS in time. If not, I may have to stick to pavement...

Diabolik, I too have not been getting enough sleep throughout the week so this one-time let's switch to the afternoon start time, i.e. 6AM @ Hasuda

Here's the route JamesK, Diabolik, myself (Charif) and mevan123 (Mike) are doing tomorrow. All paved roads.

Mike and I need to be back in Tokyo Sat night, so depending on how we're doing on time, we might cut a few twisties toward the end of the day and head back.

If anyone's interested in loading this route on their Garmin, download the KML file from Google Maps, convert it to GPX on www.gpsvisualizer.com and open the GPX on your MapSource, then save the GDB.

That's an 839km loop. I assume that is for Saturday and Sunday, not just Saturday?

I don't see any rindos in that one. Where are they?

Reserved a bungalow! Forgot to ask them, though: Do I need to bring a sleeping bag & camp pillow or do they provide bedding?

Nope, just Saturday It's not realistic to be honest, got too excited building the route

We will most likely skip some of the more time-consuming hairpinny goat trails in the early part of Tochigi for more flowing roads.

The aim is to get to a soba lunch in Aizu Wakamatsu around 1pm-ish, then relax the pace and enjoy Bandai in the afternoon.
