Default Really interesting TED video on impact of sugar on metabolism, diabetes, and obesity

Peter Attia, M.D. asks, "What if we’re wrong about diabetes?"

Bascially, his hypothesis (which he admits is far from proven at this point) is that your body deliberately slows down your metabolism as a defense mechanism against the insulin resistance caused by eating too much sugar.

In other words, even if you eat the same number of calories, your body will burn less of those calories at rest if more of them come from sugar, because it is deliberately trying to make you fat to protect your cells from becoming insulin resistant.

    Thanks for sharing.

I've watched the entire talk which is like 15 minutes, and it was a well spent 15 minutes.

Thanks, I hadn't realized that the version of the video I posted was just a 2-minute excerpt. D'oh!
