I would recommend XR250R . Thats the best one so far if your budget up to 3000 bucks. Serrow are too short for 180cm rider like u. Anyway,i just picked up honda CR125. Feel free if u want to take for ride :)

While an XR is a good DP bike, it's in the same class for power and weight as a Djebel. Given the OP's size, weight and usage (serious offroading) I would recommend a KTM 250. Didn't Brendan have one for sale?

Just saw this again. Your height should be fine for the Djebel (I am just 169 cm and don't find mine to be too tall). I'm guessing the weight is the real issue. If you don't want a KTM, check out a KDX220 or a CRM250. They both have good power/weight ratios as they're fairly light (for a Japanese DP) two strokes.

The XR250 MD30 (dry weight 119kg) yes, but not the XR250R ME08 (dry weight 104kg) that dirtrider.diego mentioned.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean the export model, which is kick only. That last feature would be enough to put me off.

I need to see the bikes in person. There is still time until spring so I'll be touring the local shops for a while. That way I get to sit on (perhaps test ride) as many models as they've got.

    Thanks guys.

That sounds like the bike I'd be looking at. The 2007 is a good year, has all the design upgrades to the RSF engine.

indeed, my understanding is that the 2007 is the year to go for in that series.
