Thread: Recommendations for Gunma/Saitama?

    Default Recommendations for Gunma/Saitama?

Hey guys, I just bought a bike! I know I'm a bit late to the party and tsuyu is around the corner, but I had to! Just got to Japan less than two weeks ago actually.
I live in Saitama right next to Gunma, next biggest city is Maebashi.
Any recommendations on where to you for my first trip? Seeing all those mountains in the background, surely there'll be some good routes:)
Bike is a Kawa 250tr in case that matters.

Welcome. Recommend to buy the "Touring Mapple" and you will find great routes nearby.

Thanks! That seems like a worthwhile investment!
Will I be able to get that in a bookstore? Or do I need to order online?

Either is fine. Online is easier if you're used to using Amazon JP. Here's one to get you started.

For a route from and back to Honjo (guessing your location), given you're riding a 250 and just getting into touring, how about this route to Nikko on the 122, then back on the 120 and through Mt Akagi? It's a 200km one-day ride. You can ride it at an easy pace with many breaks and photo stops, and has a good amount of scenery and good roads.

I went from Takasaki to Mt. Asama last year and enjoyed the ride.

Takasaki is where I'll pick up my bike!
    Which road did you take?
