Default Finding an independent garage or mechanic

Any suggestions for tracking down the mechanic down the street?
Some shops will only work on your bike if you bought it from them.
Others won't install X unless you purchased your X from them.

Where is the Hiroshi or Hiroko who will just fix what needs fixing and charge for labor?

Did you look in the phone book?

Use GooBike to do a search of shops in your area listing bikes for sale. Look at the ones that look like independently owned and operated shops and call them on the phone or go visit them.

68 shops in the Town Pages (Japanese Yellow Pages) for Sendai. I'm sure at least one of them will work on your bike.

Thank you for the suggestions. I had a "white duck" problem. You see a white duck cross the road. The next thing you see cross is another white duck. So you start thinking that the next thing to cross will also be a white duck.
The next couple of garages I talked to were okay with working on my bike.
