Default what the f*cks up with refridgerators here?

So my fridge finally gave up the ghost and I went shopping for a new one today. Goal was to get one with lots of fridge space and a big freezer so I can go bargain shopping at Costco once a month and stock up with US meats.

Sharp sells this nice model overseas. Huge refrigerator and giant freezer all in one reasonably sized package.

But can I find it here? Noooo, every freaking fridge here by Sharp and all the other major brands eat up all the potential freezer space with giant vegetable compartments. So instead of getting a useful 160 liter freezer, you end up with a 80 liter veggie compartment (that's a higher temp than the fridge) and an 80 liter freezer

Lower left door, veggies only! What the f*ck! :bad-words:

A rant about refrigerators? That could be a first.

Agree but GR's have always been more than riding
I wish to have no connection with any bike that does not ride fast; for I intend to go in harm's way.

    this certainly is refridgerator hell.

i always wondered how costco really worked here. i mean, there ain't a lot of space in these apartments, much less the fridges.

My wife wanted this one when we moved here a couple years ago.
I think it has about 125l of freezer space. Some of this space is taken up by a removable ice maker, but we like the ice maker.
We keep the freezer full most of the time. It seems like we can never have a big enough freezer.

We chose the nice stainless steel color option.

Yeah, that's 125 counting your icemaker. The one I tentatively decided on has 147 counting the icemaker.

This is one of my bugbears too - there are SOME though, that are straight up chest-type freezers with front-open drawers - I might be able to put one of those under the kitchen cabinets.

The more freeezer space you have, the less you spend on groceries - as long as you're willing to buy stuff on sale and spend a day or so a month cooking and bagging.

Yeah, they do sell small freezers. Might get one sometime. The fridge I ended up buying was a Mitsubishi. The shop, Kojima Denki, had all the major brands but the salesman said the Mitsubishis had the best build quality. Unlike the other brands, Mitsubishi's fridge, freezer, icemaker and chill compartments are totally walled off from each other and each section has its own adjustable temp sensor. Much more efficient and keeps odors from spreading. The Mitsubishi shelves also can be height adjusted with a nifty slide mechanism even with stuff on them. An LED light that keeps veggies fresh for a long time. The only downside is that it cost as much as a set of Akrapovic slipons for my TDM ::?

Space, dude! Damn, you're already forgetting what it's like to live in a rabbit hutch :x ;)

But yeah, that looks nice. If my present fridge wasn't busted I could see adding one of those if I had a place for it.

If they made that unit front opening, it would be ideal - as it is, without being able to stack on top of it it's a half a square meter of dead space.

Mebbe I just need to rip out a counter and get an industrial sized one that can couple as a countertop.

...and it WOULD give me a temporary storage space for those dead NHK collectors...

Yeah, a front door freezer would rule for top storage and for being able to take stuff out without having to remove everything first

i've been looking at fridges for awhile because we expect ours to go anytime. i'm always looking at freezer size first. they are small and my wife is always annoyed because i'm stuffing so much in the tiny freezer. you might just need to get a small deepfreezer!

oh, and i definatly want an icemaker!

Click on the link for the model I got (posted above). It's got a pretty big main freezer, another compartment that can be used as a freezer and the icemaker compartment can also be used as a freezer. That's about the best I could find. Cost 155,000 but me and the wife split the cost so the bike accessory fund remains intact
