There's a Japanese bike magazine for women called "L+bike", so I guess there are a decent number of women riders out there.

I think the L stands for "lady", but you never know...

A very small percentage and they tend not to post. Riding bikes is
becoming more popular for women, in Japan. NAPS ( local parts shop )
now has a female section for rider gear etc. Lots of local shops offer
organised rides and support new riders and I think this is helping the
    situation for female riders.

Dunno about a SMALL percentage Jav - I see a lot of chicks on real bikes too ie. not scooters. I'd guess that about 15% of riders I see are women - excluding the obahans going to their vege gardens on scooters that's more than I remember seeing back home - I knew a few chicks who'd pillion (ass or grass etc etc ) but only 1 who rode ...

Unrelated to K's comment, I am a female rider.

Combine this with the fact that I see plenty of women riding motorcycles in Japan, and you can imagine how happy I am to live and ride here (both females and motorcycles).

Female Rider? I thought you were Obama smokin a cigarette (:-))

Honestly, I have noticed a lot of female bikers. I went to a custom bike show yesterday (Unbelievable turn-out, bikes waiting to park as far as the eye could see) and here were a lot of female riders there. In fact, if I were single and looking, I would definately prefer a girl that rides.
If I lived in a world without motorcycles, I would have to invent them.

My crazy trip yesterday involved following a girl on a gsx-r 750 that i met.. to join her tsuringuh group.. i think she was holding back even while i was hanging-off to keep up.. :-D

also had a girl on a hayabusa wink at me a couple days ago at a stoplight..in my stupidity i went the other direction though... =D

suffice to say. i'm amazed by the amount of girls/women riding serious bikes here.. =D..

in belgium my mother rides a harley.. but she tends to stay of highways and stuff

Does riding like a granny, albeit frequently, really qualify you in this instance??
