Konichiwa! Thank you for letting this inmate into your gaijinrider community.

I'm in Tokyo next week and will have lots of free time. I'm looking to do any kind of riding I can. I was in Rome two weeks ago and did a Vespa tour. I was in Dusseldorf and rented a BMW GSA. In London I settled for a bicycle. Likewise, I'd like to do something on two wheels this next week. Any recommendations? I ride a BMW R1200 GSA at home but I'm not picky.

I land Monday at Narita around 3:00 pm and am working in Tokyo Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm to 10pm. That leaves a lot of time to get around and see what Japan has to offer.

Any of you ever come to Southern California? If so, look me up and we'll go riding. We have SO MANY great places. Some of my trips this year: Zion/Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Bishop (WMRS), Kennedy/Monache Meadows, Death Valley, Cleveland National Forrest, Mojave Desert, Angeles National Forrest, etc... Look me up on advrider.com and you'll see.

Any ideas on quirky Japanese things to see? I heard of the restaurant that has toilets for chairs. Maybe I'll meet a Scarlett Johannson type and get "lost in her translation?"

I came across this looking for rentals in Tokyo. Is this good?

Contact 819, they can help in English, and are friends with some of the Gaijin Riders.

Hope this helps you. They also have a facebook page.

thank you for the rental information.

I came across this however: "Please notice, if you are not Japanese citizen the motorcycle rental is possible only if you have Japanese companion(s) or/and you are able to comprehend in Japanese. "
Funny, that doesn't stop them from renting here!

Hi, I ride a GSA but I'll be on vacation in the states while you're touring around here!

Give that 819 place a try anyway; maybe one of the guys on this board can sort things out with them for you.

Just for the record, when I called 819 to inquire about a non-Japanese speaking US military member renting a bike, they said all that's needed is an international drivers license (or sofa in the case of a military member), a passport and a credit card. They do offer good discounts on rentals exceeding 24 hours. An R1200GS was 21,000 the first day, and 14,750 per day thereafter.
